Motivating A Multi-Generational Workplace

Statistically, over 80% of the workforce indicate they are motivated to work harder, and stay at their jobs longer, when receiving appreciation for their work. Recognition, when woven into a company’s culture and brand, has a significant impact on employee engagement and retention. The legacy employee “years of service” programs are less effective in inspiring higher performance, especially with the millennial workforce where staying at a company for10 or 15 years is unheard of in today’s environment. Rewards include hand written “thank you” notes from peers and management, experiences (i.e. kayaking) and merchandise or awards. Creating a dynamic reward program by integrating a variety of solutions will result in increased performance, an innovative culture and a motivated workforce. One of these solutions is receiving a beautiful hand-crafted object. When viewed, it is associated with one’s success, achievement and peer approval.
